Microwave-assisted pulse-fluidised dryer

The microwave-assisted pulse-fluidised laboratory dryer is a modern device designed for the efficient drying of insect larvae, bulk materials (e.g., cereal grains), raw materials with a dense structure (e.g., root vegetables), and even pet food products. Additionally, it is suitable for processing non-edible materials, such as shredded plastics.

Inside the dryer’s process chamber, a pulsating fluidised bed is created, which lifts the material, ensuring even and effective moisture evaporation. The process is enhanced by the combined action of microwaves and hot air in a closed-loop system, which accelerates water removal from both the surface layers and deeper structures of the material. As the moisture content decreases, the dried material is gradually lifted higher, allowing for smooth movement towards the discharge point.

The device’s design enables operation in both batch and continuous modes, with a drying capacity of up to 10 kg/h, depending on the type of raw material and the installed microwave power. The drying chamber is equipped with an option to install a specialised camera, allowing real-time monitoring of the process.

The entire system is computer-controlled via dedicated software, which not only facilitates precise process management but also records all key parameters. The user can individually adjust settings such as microwave power, drying time, temperature, and airflow, ensuring complete control over the efficiency and quality of the drying process.
